New Year

New Year? In the solar system, we're right back where we started!

Forget the people who don't matter,
remember the ones who do.
Know where your next meal comes from,
don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Every second wasted thinking about the past,
is a future going bad, learn and move on.

No parent should have to bury their child,
A tongue weighs an ounce, but so few people can carry it well.
Watch your thoughts, they become deeds,
watch your deeds, they become habit,
watch your habits, they become Character.

I've been running away from my problems,
I kept trying to get away from them,
I would do anything to get back into the air,
tell you the truth, all that time spent up there,
longing to reach the stars,
I've missed out on what really matters,
what's going on down here.

This year, ive been jobless, grounded, I lost my best friend, i realised trust can be broken with a single statement and sometimes no matter how hard you try to get your life back to normal, some things will never be the same.

Overall this has been one hell of a year. More bad times than good, but hey, thats what life is all about, wherever we go, we're always running, always late, maybe thats why its called the human race, but maybe life is not about surviving each day, maybe, just maybe theres a little more to it than that, so far I've been clueless about where I'm headed, I've made loads of mistakes and I've learned from them and as of tonight, I have another whole year ahead of me, to make a whole bunch of new ones ;)

I leave myself with one thing in mind,

Life is a journey, not a destination and I must be willing to get rid of the life I have planned, so as to make room for the Life that is waiting for me.

Cheers to a new year and a new chance at redemption, even though we say the same thing every year :P

Beauty and Chaos

Lets address one of the biggest questions ever asked: Why are we here? What is life all about?

Some people believe its about being happy, finding your "soul-mate" and spending the rest of your natural lives together. Is there even such a thing as a soul-mate? Lets not drift off topic just yet.

Some believe its about endless days of work followed by vacation followed by work, until we retire and start forgetting simple things in old age, till we can't get to the bathroom in time and someone has to clean up after us and in extreme cases being bedridden, only to be buried by our kids at the bitter end of it all. We lose our health, trying to make money and make something of ourselves. We later lose our money trying to regain our health. Whatever is left of our money at the end passes on to our kids or next of kin.

Optimistic people or rather hippies say, "Its about the journey, not the destination." The experiences you gain, being broke, being sad, heart break, the happiness you feel when you come home to your dog after a long day, the joy of seeing a new born child, the sparkle in your eye when you see a loved one, that feeling of adventure as your travel the world. Its all these moments thrown together that make life worth living. These events mould you, you character, your spirit, they are responsible for who you are today.

What if I told you that life really had no destination? It doesn't make sense, it was never supposed to. We aren't put here to make the most of our lives, we're not meant to live up to our highest potential. Its OK to be mediocre, its OK not to work harder than the Joneses and just be happy where you're at right now. Maybe we're all just thrown down here and someone up there in the universe said, "Lets see what they do with the time that is given to them." No purpose, no goal. Its an environment where we can be whatever/whomever we want. Free will. There is no right, no wrong, no heaven, no hell. Can you imagine a world full of people who just live for the moment? No competition, no hatred, no jealousy. Happiness. If you keep telling yourself that you are happy, you'll eventually believe it. Live in the moment, satisfy your needs. Would a world like this be beautiful? Or would there be chaos?

Some Lessons in Management.

During a robbery in Guangzhou, China, the bank robber shouted to everyone in the bank: "Don't move. The money belongs to the State. Your life belongs to you"

"Everyone in the bank laid down quietly. This is called "Mind Changing Concept” Changing the conventional way of thinking.

When a lady lay on the table provocatively, the robber shouted at her: "Please be civilized! This is a robbery and not a rape!

"This is called "Being Professional” Focus only on what you are trained to do!

When the bank robbers returned home, the younger robber (MBA-trained) told the older robber (who has only completed Year 6 in primary school): "Big brother, let's count how much we got.

"The older robber rebutted and said: "You are very stupid. There is so much money it will take us a long time to count. Tonight, the TV news will tell us how much we robbed from the bank!

"This is called "Experience.” Nowadays, experience is more important than paper qualifications!

After the robbers had left, the bank manager told the bank supervisor to call the police quickly. But the supervisor said to him: "Wait! Let us take out $10 million from the bank for ourselves and add it to the $70 million that we have previously embezzled from the bank”.

This is called "Swim with the tide.” Converting an unfavorable situation to your advantage!

The supervisor says: "It will be good if there is a robbery every month."

This is called "Killing Boredom.” Personal Happiness is more important than your job.

The next day, the TV news reported that $100 million was taken from the bank. The robbers counted and counted and counted, but they could only count $20 million. The robbers were very angry and complained: "We risked our lives and only took $20 million. The bank manager took $80 million with a snap of his fingers. It looks like it is better to be educated than to be a thief!"

This is called "Knowledge is worth as much as gold!"

The bank manager was smiling and happy because his losses in the share market are now covered by this robbery.

This is called "Seizing the opportunity.” Daring to take risks!

So who are the real robbers here?

Indian Mentality

Why is it that Indians, at the sight of "Sale 40% off" or "Buy one get one FREE" go running into the store knowing fully well that the original price has been hiked up to make room for the discount margin?
Why do we have to take advantage of everything we get free or go for seconds and thirds and fill our hands with what ever we can carry if its FREE?
Why do we go crazy when we even hear the words Unlimited or Free?
Is it in our genes?
I am going to drift FAR off topic, let me poke a little fun of a phone which you can find in almost everyones pocket these days - Blackberry.

I know fully well this next part will invite a lot of "hatred" from blackberry users and they might ask why does it bother me, so my answer is, No, it does not bother me that so many people use it, its their personal preference, my next paragraph is simply my thoughts about it.
As everybody has realised, "Blackberries" have taken the market by storm.
Its a craze right now, and owning one, shows you're popular and "social"
Tell you the truth, if you have a blackberry, there is really no point in meeting the people on your BBM list, because when you actually meet them, you barely have anything to talk about.

Why?
Cause you're always in touch, always "bbming" and "PINGING" eachother, sending pictures, songs and videos. Take a look at your garden when you get the chance, notice once kids reach the age of 12 or 13 and they get their blackberries, the swings and slides remain unused, they're sitting down on their phones and most of them have forgotten what its like to play, get dirty or just be immature while they still can.

College teenagers, If someone needed to find you and kill you, all they had to do was take a look at your status, cause bb users are always uploading what they're doing at that moment.
So much for secrecy, if a stalker wanted information, they wouldn't need to meet anyone to get to know them, check out their Facebook, their blackberry status and boom! Known them for years!
This broad phone with a keypad which takes time to get used to, and bare minimum features, sells faster than Viagra at a Victoria's secret fashion show.

Why?
Because Blackberry has studied the Indian mentality and used it to their advantage.
Pay a certain amount (usually 300) and get BBM and internet FREE.
An interesting story to shed some light:
On brining up the popular argument with a friend of which phone is better, we listed the features,
I use a Nokia C7
He uses a Blackberry Curve 8520
Obviously, my phone won hands down as far as features went.
The amount he paid anually for his bbm, put his phone way above my phones price range.
Realising his phone was very badly out ranked by mine, he desperately tried his last defense:
"Your phone does not have UNLIMITED texts and FREE sending of pictures, songs and videos"
I responded, "You pay roughly 300 rupees a month for that, and that does not cover call charges"
He said, "But still, you pay 300 rupees a month and its all FREE and UNLIMITED"
Smiling, i replied, "Sure, if you're that stupid, I have a great deal for you, give me 5000 rupees and I'll give you a pair of aviators FREE"

I rest my case.
We NEED to get out of this train of thought and SOON.
